Local hybridizer registers first daylily

Cheryl Trejo a TADS member, manages a daylily garden in Broken Arrow.

Cheryl registered her first daylily this year. Congratulations.

                    Breaking Dawn

Unfolding Paradox x Clearing The Fog
This is my first registered daylily.
Purple with a wire white edge, cream eyezone & large yellow throat.Petals pinch in the heat.
6” Bloom
22” Scape with 3-4 branching & 18 budcount
Semi evergreen that blooms Mid-Late in the season
Maiden bloom was in 2007. The blooms open consistent every time. I’ve sent some fans to be grown in the north & south & it has had no problems growing in any climate. There has been no problem with rotting or scape blasting. It is not rust resistant. No rebloom. It multiplies very well & is fertile both ways & makes pretty nice kids.
Selling price is $50 for a double fan. Very limited fans available at this time.

Nancy Fernandes

Robin Calderon
Earlybird Daylilies
far western Kansas zone 5

It is with a heavy heart that I write this post tonight. Many of you know Nancy Fernandes. Her garden in Edmond, Oklahoma was on the National tour in 99. The loveliest garden I have ever visited. She is now working her magic on the banks of the
Brazos River in Texas. Well, Nancy underwent surgery yesterday and found she has cancer. Here is the report:

This past week, Nancy found out she had a mass in her abdomen.  The mass turned out to be cancer and not just a little, but quite a lot. The prelimnary diagnosis is Stage-3 primary peritoneal carcinoma. The doctors have said that because the cancer is fast growing they believe that it will respond well to chemotherapy.

Please send prayers and healing thoughts her way. You can sign her guestbook at

Nancy is a strong lady. If anyone can beat this thing, she can.
